Mido shines in Egypt training
Mido is taking part in Egypt's Alexandria training camp in preparations for the Pharaos' final second stage qualifier on Oct. 12.
Alongside Wigan Athletic's Amr Zaki, Mido raised the eyebrows in Thursday's training by scoring twice.
Meanwhile, Zaki ended fears about his calf injury after taking part in the whole session.
Alongside Mido and Zaki, goalkeepers Essam Al-Hadari and Abdel-Wahed Al-Sayed also gave good performances during the session.
Egypt already guaranteed qualifying to the next round as they top group 12 with 12 points out of five games.

Mido's phone call :
Aliadiere wants Mido to stay at Boro
Boro’s unsettled £6m forward has been strongly linked with a season-long loan move to Wigan Athletic after failing to earn a place despite his goal-a-game start to the campaign.
Reports in his native Egypt suggested the former Spurs star would welcome a move to link up with Steve Bruce at the JJB Stadium, but the 25- year-old reiterated his commitment to the cause after clear-the-air talks with manager Gareth Southgate.
Mido’s three-goal haul could earn him a recall at home to Stoke City tomorrow, and Aliadiere has told his team-mate to shelve any plans he may have to call time on his 12-month Boro career to help the club’s bid to secure a top 10 finish this season.
The Frenchman said: “It depends on the player how he reacts to not being in the side, but you’ve got stiff competition for places at every big club, especially up front, and it’s no different here.
“I’d love Mido to stay because he’s a quality player and he’s shown that by scoring three goals already this season. We need players like him at the club and I’d be disappointed if he left but it’s his decision and also the manager’s.”
Mido, who is also interesting his former Spurs boss Martin Jol, now in charge at German Bundesliga side Hamburg, has already racked up eight clubs in his short career.

Boss: Stability Is What Mido Needs Now
Although he is still just 25, the Egyptian striker has played for eight clubs in seven different countries since making his debut in his homeland in the 1999/2000 season.
After an injury-ravaged first season on Teesside he has started the current campaign in blistering form, with the help of a tough summer training regime, and he currently sits joint top of the scoring charts alongside Villa's Gabriel Agbonlahor.
And despite reports that he is unhappy with a lack of first team starts, Southgate believes stability is what Mido needs more than yet another move.
"I've said to him, I want him to be part of this football club. I understand that he wants to play and he will be causing me headaches in terms of selection."
So many Boro players are performing well at the moment that it's hard for Southgate to leave anyone out, but the manager says that's far better than having a team that picks itself.
"At the start of the season it was easy because Mido hadn't played pre-season matches," he explained. "But I don't want it to be easy - we had that last season. "If we want to be competitive as a team, not just this month but in November, December and January, we need that strength in depth. He knows how I feel about him and what I want from him.
Mido has had spells with Zamalek, Gent, Ajax, Celta Vigo, Marseille and Roma but his style has proved ideally suited for the Premier League and he played more games during a successful loan spell at Spurs than for any of his previous clubs.
His tally of three goals from three games in a week-and-a-half has already equalled his total during the whole of last season.Asked whether Mido owes Southgate a debt after making just eight starts and four substitute appearances during that first season, the manager said: "It's not a case of doing it for me, players owe it to themselves. "He has a talent and we want all our players to fulfil the talent they have and I think he can do that with us."
But with Afonso Alves (above), Tuncay and Jeremie Aliadiere also looking highly impressive, nobody is guaranteed a starting place - including Mido. "We know what he's got and all the forward players we've got have different attributes and assets," said Southgate."During the game on Saturday Mido showed he has physical power and the ability to win headers, which is something our other strikers don't have. "We've got the four strikers from last season plus Marvin, who can play up front, and the way we're playing now we could also put Adam Johnson or Stewart Downing into that area.
"It gives us options to pick the team according to who we're playing against."

Southgate warns Wigan to keep hands off Mido
GARETH SOUTHGATE has issued Wigan with a hands-off warning over Mido.
The Egyptian claims the Latics want him on loan and is seeking assurances from the Boro boss over his chances of regular first-team football.
But after Mido scored his second goal of the season from just two substitute appearances, Southgate - asked if Wigan could forget about any move for the striker - said: “Yeah, no one from Wigan has spoken to me.
“Mido’s the sort of lad who wants to play regularly but I said to him a couple of weeks ago that I believe he will play football with us.
“He’s shown how important he can be for us in these last two weeks, he’s a good footballer and a goalscorer, his record throughout his career has been excellent.
“He’s giving himself every chance of a starting position.”
Southgate has all but given up on landing James Harper from Reading, with talk on the Continent of a renewed bid for Heerenveen’s US midfielder Michael Bradley.
Meanwhile, former Boro starlet Lee Cattermole, who did join Wigan, has revealed: “It was sad to say goodbye to the lads and everyone there, but sometimes you have to make big decisions like this.
“I made the decision to move on, and I take with me some very happy memories of my years at Middlesbrough.”

Mido: 'I think Berbatov is looking for a move'
'I don't think Berbatov’s head is there anymore,' he said. 'It is not with Spurs and I think he is looking for a move.
'I think he is a very important player for the club. You can see Spurs without Berbatov are a different team. Without Keane as well they are a different team.
'They are huge players. It will be very difficult to replace Berbatov. He is a class player. He is not affected by anything around him. It was the same with Keano. He is one of the best players I have ever played with. Losing them I think will be difficult for Spurs.'
It is a pertinent point amid the huge optimism that has followed Juande Ramos’ £46million summer spending. To lose both Keane and Berbatov in one summer would be managerial naïvety, especially given Darren Bent’s insipid showing at the Riverside Stadium.

Mido Predicts Positive Season Ahead
The Egyptian striker missed the opening pre-season fixture at York while visa issues prevented his trip to the Algarve, but after overcoming a brief injury setback he feels on his way to full fitness.
"I have never had a good pre-season build-up and done badly in the season, so hopefully this season will be just the same," he said.
"The fans will see a different player this season and with games I will reach my top form. With games I think I will get to the top of my form, especially with fitness and that's what I need."
A first-half at Carlisle on last Tuesday and a shade over an hour against Hibs went some way to help the comeback from an operation that was followed by a hard summer of intense fitness work in his native country.
"I worked with Nick Allamby in Egypt, he's a great lad and he was working hard with me.
"It's been a long time for me without games and as I said it was important to get myself going again and minutes have helped me do that.
"For me it was important to get my legs going again and I'm very happy with my condition."
"I wasn't happy with last season, I just wanted to get on with this season and we've done everything right now.
"The operation issues feel much better, my legs feel much better and if you watch the game you will see that I even look a lot better this season."
Mido is adamant those who watch him play will see a notable difference in his performance, not to mention his hairstyle.
"Now when you see me play you can see the difference between now and last season.
"I haven't had a haircut yet! I've been unlucky with my last haircut as every time I shave my head I have a bad season."

Injured Mido on a mission to face his old employers as Middlesbrough get ready to entertain Spurs
New captain Emanuel Pogatetz and midfielder Gary O'Neil have also added to Boro manager Gareth Southgate's woes in the final week of the close season.
Egypt international Mido pulled out of his side's 6-1 demolition of Sparta Rotterdam on Friday with a knock and after missing the club's pre-season tour to Portugal is a major doubt to start at the Riverside this weekend.
Boro, who have turned down an inquiry from SV Hamburg for 25-year-old Mido, have several injury worries.
Southgate meanwhile is pushing Arsenal for a quick decision on his £3million bid for defender Justin Hoyte.
The Boro boss wants the right-back in his line-up against Spurs after selling Luke Young to Aston Villa for £5.5m.
Scout David Mills travelled to watch the defender play the full 90 minutes for Arsenal in their 1-1 draw with Sevilla in Amsterdam on Saturday.

Mido and Shawky back to Egypt squad
The 25-year-old missed the African Nations Cup in Ghana earlier this year through injury and has not featured for the Pharaohs since.
Shehata said: "Mido looked sharp in the pre-season. He lost 15kg and works hard with his team (Middlesbrough). I hope he would be ready to play for Egypt."
There was also a place in the squad for Mido's Boro team-mate Mohamed Shawky as well as Wigan's on-loan forward Amr Zaki.

Mido Can't Wait For Season Start ..download Mido's interview
The Egyptian striker has foregone what for many are usual summer activities and focussed his time on getting back fit for Boro, something he felt was necessary.
"I've been doing a lot of hard work with Nick Allamby and he has done a great job with me, we were training twice-a-day, every morning and afternoon for fitness. It's been a hard four weeks but I needed to come back at a good level of fitness.
"I chose to build on my fitness ahead of anything else, we had a baby in the summer but my holiday, I put that to one side to work with Nick and get back to full fitness.
Mido admits that he is delighted to be back in training with the team, especially after such a personally frustrating season for the former Ajax hitman.
"I've been looking forward to it all summer and I'm happy that we're all back and under way now. Though it was frustrating for me not be be in Portugal.
"Everyone knows that last season everything was out of my hands, I was injured and fighting injury all season. When I did get back to play I wasn't fit and was back injured again."
Upon his return to Rockliffe Park along with the rest of the squad, new fitness coach Frank Nuttall was introduced to the team and Mido feels that although the type of work differs from what he's used to, it will only go on to benefit the club.
"It is hard work, it's different work but he's been doing well with us and hopefully we will get used to his style of training because it's very different from last year.
"We were one of the fittest sides in the division last season and it's credit to the staff here and the manager wants everything to be even better this season."
Looking ahead to the new season, the Cairo-born frontman believes Boro have all the firepower necessary with which to push up the league and feels the competition for places is necessary for the club.
"Jeremie Aliadiere, Afonso Alves and Tuncay are all good strikers, they're different players, but I'm sure I can fit with all of them as I have the experience and I can adapt myself to the way my partner is playing.
"It's the way Premier League sides are now, all four of us offer something different and it will give different options and credits for the manager to play with.
"I want to help the side get into Europe. A top 10 would be a reasonable target for us and to achieve that would be great."
In closing, Mido had a message for the Boro fans.
"I hope the fans understand what happened to me last season and this season I have done everything possible to make myself fit for the club and now I'm just waiting for the season to start.

Middlesbrough star Mido: I'm no fatso!
The £6million striker has shed two stone and is down to his fighting weight of 14 stone after cancelling his summer holidays for double fitness sessions.
The Egyptian spent a month in Cairo with a fitness expert who put him through running sessions in the morning and weight and strength training in the 40C afternoon heat.
Mido received some flak from Boro fans after looking out of shape towards the end of the season.
That was put down to an unusual pubic bone injury that has cleared up and allowed Mido to report back ready for action... almost.
He is training with the reserves on Teesside after a visa problem left him unable to travel to Southgate's training camp in Portugal this week.
"The heat was 40c but every day we worked hard on conditioning.
"Sometimes I would have no pain and start training again, only for it to come back. I have done everything possible to be fit.
"Now I want to get better luck and score some goals."

Amr Zaki : I've come to England to score goals
The 25-year-old Zaki has scored 27 goals in 48 international appearances.
"I've come to England to score goals,'' he said. "That's what I do. I want to show the manager and the fans of Wigan that they have made a good choice and now I am totally focused on trying to get in the squad and prove myself here.''
Wigan manager Steve Bruce said it took a lot of work bringing Zaki to the Premier League.
"Anyone with a one-in-two strike-rate or better over 50-odd international games knows where the back of the net is,'' Bruce said. "He is all action, physically powerful, great in the air, with two great feet and a good turn of pace.''
Mido explains absence
Middlesbrough striker Mido has revealed his absence from the club’s pre-season trip to Portugal is due to visa problems.
The Egypt international, who missed the major part of last season due to injury, has been prevented from making the trip to the Algarve and will miss the friendly with Celtic.
"There have been ongoing problems regarding my visa, which I hope to have sorted shortly.
"It could be that the Portuguese embassy require up to a week to amend this situation, thus preventing my ability to travel to Portugal in the very immediate future."

Southgate : Mido give himself a good opportunity
The international duo missed big chunks of last term with respective pubic bone and foot injuries but worked hard on their own over the summer to get into top shape.
Mido lost around 10 kilos in a strict regime with Boro conditioning coach Nick Allamby back home in Egypt and is already looking sharp in training alongside Huth.
Southgate said: “Huth and Mido will be like two new signings. Rob, we saw for a spell last season, is an outstanding player and Mido as well. That’s why I’m quite comfortable about the way that we are going to progress.
“We feel with the group of players that we’ve got that we can achieve more than we achieved last year.”
Both players made their last Boro appearances in the 1-1 draw at Arsenal in March.
Mido - who recently rejected a return to former club Zamalek - was sent off for a high challenge on Gael Clichy, while Huth played no further part in Boro’s 13th-place finish after aggravating his foot injury.
Southgate has been impressed by striker Mido’s attitude in the off-season.
“He has shown a real desire to come back in a condition that gives him a chance going forward into pre-season,” he said. “We are pleased with that attitude and he has given himself a good opportunity.”
And he says Boro will box clever with German defender Huth to give him every chance of regular football after an injury-interrupted time on Teesside.
“What we’ve got to do is monitor his training and see if it is right for him to do every session and the type of work that he does.
“I’m not someone who insists on every player taking part in every football session. You’ve got to be sensible and it will be a huge boost for us if he is fit and raring to go for the start of the season.”
George Boateng is now expected to complete his move to Premier League new boys Hull City on Monday for a fee of around £1m.
The 32-year-old has reportedly agreed personal terms and his agent Barry Silkman said: “He just thinks that maybe it is the right time to move on.”
Boro are also hoping Matthew Bates will be able to step up the intensity of his training over the next month as he fights back from his third cruciate knee ligament injury.
“He is progressing well,” added Southgate. “We wouldn’t put a definite date on him returning to full training but we hope towards the end of pre-season that he will be starting to join in more with the rest of the lads.”
Mido rules out Zamalek return
Mido revealed that Zamalek contacted him last month, but insisted that he is not planning on leaving the Premiership to return to his former club in the near future.
"Mamdouh Abbas contacted me a month ago and I asked him to talk to my club, but nothing more happened," the Middlesbrough striker told Modern Sport TV.
"I love Zamalek and there is a chance I can return in the future, but I am not ready to do that in the mean time."
Mido is currently preparing for the new season with Boro in an attempt to regain his fitness, following last season's injury problems.
The 25-year-old spent most of the 2007-2008 campaign on the sidelines, due to a series of injuries that wretched his first season at the Riverside.

Southgate : Mido is a lean machine
There was a definite air of increased optimism among the players as they began pre-season training with new boys Marvin Emnes and Didier Digard immediately looking the part. And the formidable presence of a sleek and powerful looking Mido and German international defender Robert Huth in the main group added further grounds for hope for the new season.
"Mido's been working with one of our fitness coaches in Egypt for four weeks during the summer," Southgate revealed. "That was something he organised for himself and he's come back in good condition.
