Mido : Boro safe under Southgate

Middlesbrough striker Mido has enthused over Gareth Southgate’s managerial abilities in an interview with Setanta Sports News and is fully confident that the club will be spared the torture of a relegation battle come the end of the season.
Southgate is currently in his second season as a manager but has already been forced to endure the pointed barbs of critics and the rigmarole of battling at the lower end of the Premier League table.

Whilst no less a football authority than Arsene Wenger has spoken of his admiration for Southgate in the past, he still divides opinion as a manager and is fortunate to work under the patient figure of chairman Steve Gibson in what is becoming a more cut-throat Premier League by the season.

Mido – signed from Tottenham at the start of the season – is a firm admirer of the manager and believes that Boro will flourish under his guidance as they currently sit seven points clear of the relegation zone after going unbeaten since New Year’s Day.

“He knows what he is doing,” said Mido on Setanta Sports News. “It is true he is young and hasn’t been in the business for so long.
“But the way he manages the team has been great so far and I don’t think we will even be close to relegation. I think we will do really well.”
